mug:nantes
Challenge
The challenge is to experiment with ceramics and design an ergonomic cup that is easy to grasp.
Concept
The design of the mug is characterized by its formal and visual ambivalence (lat. pugnantes) ‒ to the advantage of its practical use. The outer shape is jagged, which provides a good grip. The inside is slightly undulated, reflecting the wavy shape of its liquid content. The shape is underlined by the colour combination.
Implementation
Using a negative mould, the ceramic cup is cast and fired.
